Quilted Parrots Project Notes: Project length seven days. During the painting process my client rescued a greenwing macaw parrot. I reworked the design to include her new arrival, Buddy. We left room over the closet doors for future new arrivals. We also made color choice changes to two parrot's beaks.

The request: recreate a loved cartoon meme to match a small painting bought on vacation in the Galapagos. The goal: match colors and background to compliment the current blue footed boobie painting while retaining the sharp smooth quality of the cartoon itself.

The request: 4 Stretched Canvas Panel Series. Each panel measuring 24 inches by 48 inches at 1/2 inch deep. Stylized, colorful, unabashed wild scene of Florida contained in a breezy bright vista. Repurposed frame and canvas artwork.

We've all got a few framed art pieces sitting in a closet. They fit our personality and style once upon a time. Instead of buying new art that hundreds of others will buy, consider repurposing those pieces. I can take framed art (canvas, photo, or printed paper) and refurbish the entire piece. Frame and art. I have the skills to deliver a fresh accessory to your home.

Vintage pieces found in consignment shops offer opportunity to create a powerful impact for your decor.

A hardwood frame painted in a worn dark color held a blank chalkboard. 12-inches by 14.5-inches. Surfaces begging for a story of their own. Chalk art is a joyous medium for any art lover. Colored chalk calls back playful moments in a childhood.

I let the art itself dictate what would happen to the frame. Both needed to change. The piece would be hanging in a beachside condo. I chose to bring the scene indoors. On both frame and chalkboard. For a tactile surprise, I built up the surf water on the frame. You can run your fingers over the area and feel the form of water ripples.

Chalk art can be permanent, or temporary. I protected this piece with multiple interspersed layers of fixative as I layer in color and textures. With a final application to protect the art from smudging. And yet, if the client should want to turn the chalkboard into a new idea, a warm wet cloth with easily swipe the slate clean.

That's the magic of great art.
